In the article, Russel makes the case for why small-cap value and foreign value are currently performing well in the market and added that small-cap value is a cheaper buy among stocks. He went on to list “three ideas for playing the long-delayed rebound in small value,” and among them was Royce Special Equity Fund.

“Royce Special Equity (RYSEX) has long been one of my favorites for manager Charlie Dreifus’ savvy understanding of accounting and ability to find good companies with defensive characteristics,” Russel said. “Generally this fund has held up nicely in bear markets.”

This material is not authorized for distribution unless preceded or accompanied by a current prospectus. Please read the prospectus carefully before investing or sending money. The Fund invests primarily in small-cap and micro-cap stocks, which may involve considerably more risk than investing in larger-cap stocks. As of 12/31/18, the Fund invested a significant portion of its assets in a limited number of stocks, which may involve considerably more risk than more broadly diversified portfolio because a decline in the value of any one of these stocks would cause the Fund's overall value to decline to a greater degree.
